In Ghana, where most people are Christian, it is common to hear pastors preaching on long-distance buses. A new law could bring that familiar practice to an end.
Anyone found preaching in a public service vehicle now faces up to eight months in prison, a fine of up to $52 (£39), or both. The regulation was passed by parliament in May and has started to be enforced in recent weeks. It targets preaching and hawking on vehicles while they are in motion, classing both as a nuisance and citing the safety and comfort of passengers.
At the Neoplan bus station in Accra, groups of worshippers still gather before the morning rush to pray for drivers and passengers, but many now wonder how long they will be able to carry on.
