Kene Mkparu's Vision: Elevating Africa's Creative Economy at the 2023 Intra Africa Trade Fair

Kene Mkparu, a prominent figure in the African film industry, has made significant strides as a movie exhibitor, distributor, producer, and film production consultant. As the Founder and CEO of Komworld, he recently garnered attention at the 2023 Intra Africa Trade Fair (IATF) in Cairo, where he engaged in discussions surrounding the Afrexim Bank's ambitious US$1 billion Film Fund. The US$1 billion Film Fund, as outlined by Kanayo Awani, the Vice-President of Afrexim Bank for Intra-African Trade, is designed to accelerate the development of Africa’s creative industries. The initiative is expected to pave the way for increased film production capabilities, enhance the quality of African cinema, and foster collaboration among stakeholders in the film sector. Mkparu's participation in the IATF underscores his commitment to these goals and positions Komworld as a key player in Africa's burgeoning creative economy. 

In a statement about his future aspirations, Mkparu expressed his eagerness to participate in the upcoming IATF 2025 in Algeria. He emphasized the necessity for businesses to connect with Africa’s Creative Economy, stating, "If your business is not connected with Africa’s Creative Economy, GET CONNECTED NOW! 'Cause we’re about to fire things up a notch further!" This enthusiasm reflects his vision for an interconnected and thriving creative sector across the continent. 

As part of his broader strategy, Mkparu is in the process of launching what will be the largest entertainment center in Nigeria's South East, located in Nnewi. This ambitious project will feature the biggest cinema house in Africa, comprising 22 screens, as well as multi-leisure facilities and dining areas. This development aims to not only provide entertainment options but also create job opportunities and stimulate the local economy. 

Mkparu's extensive experience in the film industry, spanning over 27 years, has positioned him as a leader in cinema and film management.
